Who it suits
This is a Scandinavian-style fast sport boat for owners in a market where the alternative is a petrol day boat of the same shape. The numbers are honest about what it is: 35 knots and 20 nautical miles. That is a boat for short, quick hops — out to an island, across a fjord, to a restaurant berth and back — not a touring boat. Anyone whose typical day involves more than about 20 miles of running will need to plan around charging.
Against the alternatives
Most electric boats in this size band trade speed for range and sit at displacement speeds. The E-22 goes the other way, and there are few direct rivals doing genuine 35-knot performance at 6.7 metres. If that performance is the point, the short range is the price, and the trade is clear rather than hidden.
The caveats
Hydrolift does not publish battery capacity, which is the single most useful number for judging an electric boat. A "60 kW DC" figure that appears in some third-party listings is a fast-charging rate, not pack size, and should not be read as capacity. Note also that Hydrolift's core business is combustion sport boats and the E-22 is an adaptation of one — well executed on the evidence of the hull work, but it does mean the yard's electric track record is short.
