M.10 Plaisance

Who it suits

The M.10 Plaisance is a slow-cruising liveaboard for two couples or a family, aimed at sheltered water, coastal hops and protected marine areas where combustion boats are restricted or unwelcome. Three cabins and six berths on a 9.95 m hull is a genuinely useful amount of accommodation, and the twelve-knot ceiling tells you the intended rhythm: this boat is for going somewhere pleasant slowly, not for covering distance.

The weight is the story

Two thousand nine hundred kilograms for a ten-metre catamaran with three cabins is remarkably light — many comparable cruising cats of this length carry two or three times that. Light weight is what makes 40 kW enough and what makes the solar roof meaningful rather than decorative, since a light hull at 5 knots may draw little enough for solar generation to offset a real share of it. It is also the figure most worth verifying at survey, because it implies construction choices that a buyer should understand before committing.

Honest caveats

The 41 kWh pack against a 40 kW motor means roughly an hour at full output; this boat lives at low speed by design, and a buyer who does not accept that will be unhappy. More importantly, Millikan's own pages give conflicting range claims — over 100 nautical miles in one place and 80 nautical miles at 8 knots in another — so we have left range blank rather than pick one. Get a single written figure, with the speed and battery configuration it assumes, before you rely on it. No price is published, and the yard is only a few years old.
